Administrator / Key Support Worker

Brief info

"Gary served for 28 years in the British Army, predominantly with 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery. He joined as a Junior Leader and rose through the Ranks achieving the rank of Captain. He has extensive operational experience gained in Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan. His Wider experience is underpinned by a series of demanding management, training, mentoring and advisory roles, including several instructional appointments.

After struggling with his mental health for a while Gary engaged with the HUB in 2016 and was enrolled on the Warrior Programme and encouraged to engage with Combat Stress. Gary fully committed to all the opportunities and help that were offered to him increasing his confidence and resilience resulting in Gary finding full time work. Unfortunately 12 months down the line he found himself struggling both mentally and physically again and was signed off work from his GP.

As a result of this it was decided to give Gary a role as a Volunteer at the HUB to keep him busy and stimulated in a way that he could manage. With his first-hand experience of various support and treatments, Gary actively engages and imparts on his knowledge. He is an effective communicator whilst maintaining morale. A committed team player demonstrating initiative clear thought, drive and commitment to see the job through Gary was offered a permanent job 7 months later and has proved himself to be an invaluable member of the Team."
