Brief info

Since 2020, Gabriella Giannachi has been collaborating with Mark, Gary and Janine on a number of projects including ‘Understanding the role of culture and heritage in supporting veterans during transition into civilian life’, developed in collaboration with Dr Sarah Bulmer (Politics) and Professor Anke Mark (Psychology), funded by the University of Exeter’s newly founded International Institute for Cultural Enquiry.

Gabriella Giannachi was born in Turin, Italy and has a degree in Modern Languages from University of Turin and a PhD in English from Cambridge University where she was awarded a scholarship by her College, Trinity Hall.

She is currently Professor in Performance and New Media and Director of the Centre for Intermedia and Creative Technologies at the University of Exeter, UK. She has published a number of books and written papers for humanities and science journals. She has been involved in AHRC, Innovate UK, EU and RCUK funded projects involving collaborations with Tate, LIMA, Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Imperial War Museum, The Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the immersive and television content production studio Factory 42. In recognition of her research she became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2012 and an elected member of the Academia Europea in 2014.
